East Coast Migrant Head Start Project Partners with NC DHHS

March 22, 2021 by Kristina Morris

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, East Coast Migrant Head Start Project (ECMHSP) has operated its early childhood education centers for farmworker families in Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, and Virginia.

NCFHP has long partnered with East Coast Migrant Head Start Project in serving farmworker families. Now, there is also a formal strategic partnership with NCDHHS to support the accurate and timely dissemination of COVID-19 vaccine information to our farmworker community.

NCFHP staff facilitated a COVID-19 vaccine 101 training to 45 ECMHSP staff members, with some becoming train-the-trainers ambassadors. As an ambassador, these individuals will be available to provide training to our farmworker community on behalf of North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

“As COVID-19 continues to affect our professional and personal lives, it is more important than ever that we continue to educate ourselves and take the necessary steps to safeguard our community’s health. The partnership with NCDHHS will help us fight against the racial disparities in the distribution of vaccines due to the lack of credible information,” said Maria C. Garza, ECMHSP Chief Executive Officer.

Additional information about ECMHSP can be found by visiting www.ecmhsp.org.
